Students interested in serving as the student adviser to the Board of Education will submit a one-to two-page essay to Mr. Johnston explaining how they would represent the students while serving on the Board and why they feel they would be a good candidate to serve on the local Board of Education as a representative for our student body.
If you are currently a sophomore or a junior here at WHS and are enrolled as a full time student in our district then you are eligible to apply. Any student who applies may not have been suspended from school for any reason or suspended from any school sponsored activity before or during his or her term serving. Once a representative has been chosen that student shall not violate any of the provisions of the school discipline code as set forth in the WHS student handbook or Board regulation JG-R1
If you wish to turn in an application to be considered for this position then all applications must be turned into Mr. Johnston on or before December 21st prior to leaving school for Christmas Break. Once all applications are received we will then interview each candidate before the School BIP Team as well as a member of the Board of Education. After the interviews then the BIP Team and Board of Education member will then nominate a student to serve. Mr. Johnston will inform those interested in applying when the interviews will take place. Interviews will be held in early January on our return from break and the candidate chosen will be sworn in at the January Board meeting.
