Please find attached a list of scholarships that are faxed to me occasionally from Student Scholarhips.org.  Students should remember that these are national, not local scholarships, so students from all over the US are applying. You can also sign up to get a newsletter from this organization or go on line to find more listings of scholarships. (www.studentscholarships.org)or pdf file Student scholarships.org

Tuition Funding Source is a website designed to help students find scholarships, college, and career information.  This website is sponsored by Wells Fargo.  It is a tool you can use to search for scholarships, financial aid information, student loan resources, and includes a career aptitude test.  Sign up at http://www.tuitionfundingsources.com/

Wells Fargo has several other programs that can be helpful with college planning.

I also a have a limited number of hard copies of the five step booklet,
which I think is very helpful!

College- bound seniors:  It is very important that you get your FAFSA PIN number as soon as possible.  Go to www.fafsa.gov, then in the bar at the top, click on pin site.  This process will take about 5 minutes or less and it is your first step to take regarding your financial aid process.  When you finish, print your PIN Reference code # and show it to Mrs. Wanninger.  There may be a small  reward involved!

Please have your students use the Guidance website under Scholarships, to fill out applications online and to explore available scholarships.  I am sending the most current information I have to you through these e-mails, but will be updating the website, regularly, as well.  That address is: http://www.henrycountyr1.k12.mo.us/hcr1/scholarships.html

MoneyGeek.com has created two new guide to help students take responsibility for the cost of higher education.
The Ultimate Guide to the FAFSA has 10 clear, user-friendly steps to successfully apply for a student loan.
You can review it here: http://www.moneygeek.com/education/college/resources/fafsa-guide/
Our Scholarship Search Tool offers students the opportunity to review a list of over 200 scholarships that can be filtered by award amount, deadline, subject area and more.
See it here: http://www.moneygeek.com/education/scholarship-search/

Essay writing is very important for students seeking scholarships.  Encourage your student to write a good essay that they can use more than once during this process.  Have an English teacher or other trusted adult proof the essay so they are in the best form.  I hear, over and over again, from the endowment sponsors, how very important the essay is in the decision making process of who is awarded scholarships.
